With The 2nd Pick In The 2010 NBA Draft The Sixers Select Evan Turner Guard From Ohio St

The Sixers have taken Ohio St Guard Evan Turner here are some videos and reports.

Here are some notes on Evan Turner:

From SI.COM:
Biography: Expected to be taken no lower than second overall, Turner could be the first name called if the team ending up in that spot feels he's a better fit than projected No. 1 overall pick John Wall of Kentucky. It didn't take long for Turner to announce he would skip his senior season at Ohio State after taking home the Wooden and Naismith Awards, as well as The Associated Press player of the year. He may be the most versatile player available, capable of being used at the point as well as the shooting guard and small forward positions. His length and ability to get to the rim along with a nice shooting touch provide the makeup of a future superstar at the offensive end. Turner averaged a Big Ten-leading 20.4 points this season, and shot 51.9 percent from the field to rank second, as did his 9.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. What makes him even more valuable are some intangibles - he's clutch, tough and very likable. Turner returned after just 4 1/2 weeks - about half the time he was expected to miss - from breaking two bones in his back in December. The Buckeyes were 3-3 without him and 29-5 with him, including a Big Ten tournament title run that included his game-winning 37-foot buzzer-beater as well as a double-overtime win in which he had 12 of his 31 points after regulation. Maybe Turner's only weakness is he could afford to become a better long-range shooter. However, he is a very good ball-handler and is more than capable defensively, having finished among the Big Ten leaders in steals each of the past two seasons. It seems Turner could be a triple-double threat throughout a long NBA career which should include many All-Star appearances.

From ESPN.COM
Turner was the best player in college basketball this year and is considered a sure thing. He has a pretty complete skill set. He can play three positions on the floor. If he were a little bit better athlete or a better shooter, he could've gone No. 1.

More to come later.

Breaking News Texas Is Staying Put In Big 12

Great news Texas will stay in Big 12 as word came down tonight that Texas declined a invite from the Pac 10. This means that Oklahoma,Oklahoma St, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M will remain members of the now 10 team conference. The announcement will come tomorrow. The Big 12 (really Big Ten) will now most likely get a network deal. This also means the great tradition of Kansas basketball is staying where it should be. Some people say its gonna be boring without a championship game in the Big 12 well those people should learn that college football is never boring!

Expansion In College Sports

The expansion in the NCAA is a crazy thing. To think that this time next year or even next month that there will be no Big 12. First Colorado moved to the Pac-10 and then so far the biggest name Nebraska moves to the Big Ten. Boise State also moved to the Mountain West that move is great as Boise St and TCU should play each other every in year in College Football they played in a bowl game against each other the last 2 years including last years spectacular win by Boise St in the Fiesta Bowl. But to think that in the 2011-2012 college basketball season that the great tradition that is Kansas basketball could be in the Mountain West conference is not a great feeling because they should be playing a BCS conference. Now Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma all are thinking about joining Colorado and moving to the Pac-10 so their could be no Big 12 in the 2011 NCAA season. Nebraska moving to the Big Ten also means a 12 team conference means a conference championship game. Expansion will have a lot effect with fans and athletes making longer trips and Bowl Games being effected because of the loss of the Big 12 which means losing some of the invites from the Big 12.

With the 27th Pick in MLB Draft the Phillies Select Jesse Biddle LHP

They got Jesse Biddle LHP, Germantown Friends HS (Pa.).

Jesse Biddle - P

Germantown Friends, Sr.

  • Birthdate: 10/22/1991
  • Height: 6'6"
  • Weight: 225 lbs.
  • Bats: Left
  • Throws: Left
  • Scout's report filed: 3/16/10
Scouting Report

Fastball: Biddle runs his fastball up to 92 mph.

Fastball movement: His fastball is pretty straight. His two-seamer has some arm-side run.

Curve: It's a soft curve, thrown 69-72 mph, without much bite. It's his third pitch, but you can project it to be better in the future

Changeup: He's got a very good feel for his changeup, throwing it 77-78 mph and locating it down in the strike zone well. It will be a plus pitch.

Control: His command is below-average right now, thanks to some crudeness with his delivery. There's reason to think that it can improve with instruction.

Poise: He's got solid presence on the mound.

Physical Description: Biddle is close to physically mature, with a thick lower half, high waist and big hands.

Medical Update: Healthy.

Strengths: Two above-average to plus pitches in the future with his fastball and changeup. Pretty good projectability.

Weaknesses: Most of his skills are fairly raw. Command and delivery issues need to be addressed.

Summary: Projectable, high school left-handers aren't always easy to find, and Biddle, while a bit raw, might be an interesting one for teams to consider. He's got the size (6-foot-6) and strength you like to see, and he's throwing his fastball up to 92 mph, with room for growth in that area. He combines that with an outstanding changeup, though his breaking ball is behind the other two offerings. His command and issues with his delivery might keep him from being one of the elite prep arms in the class, but a team that's willing to work with him and be patient could be very handsomely rewarded should they select him during the Draft.

The scouting report is from MLB.COM

This is from SportingNews.com

At 6-4, 225, Biddle has projection written all over him. Phillies can take their time with him. He showed an uptick in velocity his senior season, and he doesn't have much mileage on his arm. He's committed to Oregon, but he's staying hom
