Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino has been activated from the disabled list, they have sent down Antonio Bastardo to Triple-A. Victorino went on the disabled list on July 28 with an abdominal strain on his left side. In a two game rehab stint with the IronPigs, he went 4-6 with a triple, home run and three RBIs. In other Phillies news Ross Gload is day to day with a strained groin which he injured last night.

Sixers Hire Rod Thorn As New Team President
Rod Thorn will become the new president of the Philadelphia 76ers Rod Thorn has reached an agreement to become the new president of the Philadelphia 76ers according to Yahoo! Sports. Rod Thorn will replace Ed Stefanski as team president but Ed Stefanski will stay on as general manager. Thorn, the former Nets team president stepped down earlier this off season he was with the Nets since 2000, he was also the GM of the Chicago Bulls from 1978-1985.From 1986 to 2000 Thorn was the NBA's Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. Thorn and Stefanski worked together in New Jersey.

Stafford showed his skill last year, but it did not yield into any results.He has to stop the mistakes and if he does that he will be a much better QB. Another thing is this is his 2nd year under this system and he is going have better time then he did last year when he was just learning it. The Lions also need a running game to help him and they have Kevin Smith coming back from injury and they drafted California's Jahvid Best. Phillies Acquire Roy Oswalt from Astros for JA Happ and 2 prospects
The Phillies got their man yesterday getting 32 yr old RHP Roy Oswalt from the Astros for LHP JA Happ, OF prospect Anthony Gose and INF prospect Jonathon Villar. The 32 yr old was 6-12 with a 3.42 era but he got no run support from the Astros. Roy Oswalt waivied his no trade clause and said he wanted to be here. The deal gives the Phillies one of if the not the best rotation in baseball with Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt, Cole Hamels,Blanton and Kendrick. Oswalt will start tonight vs the Washingtion Nationals.

Breaking News Phillies and Astros Have Deal In Place For Oswalt
A report late Wednesday said the Astros had agreed to send Roy Oswalt to the Phillies, pending Oswalt's approval. The deal was to include the Astros trading Roy Oswalt for JA Happ and prospects. Sources say the Astros will pay some off Oswalt's salary. More coming when available.

Polanco Back From DL, Castro Gone
Infielder Placido Polanco has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list, and have released INF Juan Castro. Castro, 38, hit .198 with 13 RBI in 54 games this year the Phillies lost his job as backup when Wilson Valdez stepped up. As for Polanco he is hitting .318 with 15 doubles, five home runs, 27 RBI and 39 runs scored.
